陣中席

　高台寺を開創した高台院(ねね)は、夫の豊臣秀吉に似てお茶をよく嗜んだといいます。また、高台寺の本山である建仁寺の開祖・栄西は中国より茶種を持ちかえり栽培、一般にひろく喫茶の風習を普及させた人物です。そのため高台寺にはねねから伝わる秀吉のお茶と本山建仁寺から伝わる寺院のお茶の流れが存在します

　ここで紹介する陣中席はその流れのうちのひとつ「秀吉のお茶」に連なるものです。

　秀吉は別所氏の三木合戦(1578-1580)や北条氏の小田原征伐(1590)、朝鮮出兵(文禄・慶長の役1592・1597)などの戦において、戦場で武将たちの士気を高めるため、戦の拠点となる陣屋で茶会を催して茶をふるまったといいます。高台寺の陣中席はこのような秀吉のエピソードに着想を得て１９９９年に誕生しました。陣幕に瓢箪の馬印など陣中をイメージした設えで、参加者には武将さながら豪快に大茶碗で薄茶を回し飲んでいただくユニークかつ、高台寺のお茶のルーツを象徴するたいせつなお茶です。

The tea of Warlords “The warrior spirit tea ceremony”

　Nene, the founder of Kodaiji, loved to drink tea under the influence of her husband Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the second Great Unifier of Japan.

In addition, Kodaiji is one of the　branches of Kenninji Zen Temple founded by Yousai, famous for spreading the custom of drinking tea to Japan.

That is why Kodaiji has two lineages of tea　that of warlord and that of Buddhism. In this exhibition, we will introduce the tea ceremony

based on Hideyoshi's philosophy of tea “The warrior spirit tea ceremony”.

The warrior spirit tea ceremony, in which tea is drunk in turn from one giant bowl, began in 1999 at Kodaiji. This was inspired by an episode

in which Hideyoshi frequently held tea ceremonies at the front to boost the morale of his vassals during the war. 　The tearoom, which resembles

Hideyoshi's camp, is decorated with emblematic items such as curtains and a battle standard, and participants enjoy tea like the warlords

of the time. It is an important tea ceremony that symbolizes the roots of Kodaiji.

豐臣秀吉的「陣中席」

高臺寺的開創者高臺院（寧寧）與丈夫豐臣秀吉經常相伴品茗飲茶。此外，高台寺的本山建仁寺開山祖師榮西禪師曾從中國傳來茶種並種植栽培，廣泛傳播飲茶文化。

因此，高台寺茶兼容寧寧的「秀吉茶」傳統，以及本山建仁寺的「禪寺茶」傳統。本展示基於上述高台寺茶之源流，介紹豐臣秀吉的「陣中席」（秀吉茶）。

陣中席是高台寺開創的共用巨型茶盞，輪流品茗的飲茶方式，始於1999年。當年，豐臣秀吉為了凝聚提高戰場上將士的士氣，曾頻繁舉行此類茶會。

本展示茶席以豐臣秀吉陣營為設計理念，裝飾陣幕及陣旗等象徵物品。茶客宛如置身陣中的武士，親睦和合，品茗共飲。因此，陣中席為象徵高台寺茶文化源流的正宗茶席。
